Watford 2-0 Nottingham Forrest 11-4-8 37 pts

A brace of goals by Matej Vydra grabbed an addition three points for Watford at home today.

The first, from an Almen Abdi assist came at the 15th minute and prompted over-aggressive play from Forrest. A little too aggressive as it turned out as Daniel Ayala earned his second yellow and a dismissal as his sub was warming up on the touch-line.

The resulting 10-man defense let in Vydra's second goal at minute 40 before Nottingham could settle in.

Three points are welcome early in a five-match/two-week stretch here over the holidays.

The fun continues Boxing Day at Bristol City. Kick off is 9:00 am St. Louis time.

Burnley 1-1 Watford 10-4-8 34 pts.

Nathaniel Chalobah salvaged a point in what should have been a clear victory for the Clarets at Turf Moor Saturday. The match marked the first clash of the squads since former Watford skipper Sean Dyche took over for Burnley.

Chalobah's strike from 20 yards out in the eleventh minute set the home squad back on its heels but briefly. An idiotic foul by Almen Abdi on Dean Marney in the 28th minute set up a Charlie Austin penalty kick that sent Manuel Almunia the wrong way and equalized the match.

The Hornets managed to hold off the reinvigorated Clarets for another hour-plus to eek out a point. The result drops them out of the play-off zone with three matches left in 2012 - two against top-half squads.

The next of these is Saturday at Vicarage Road against Nottingham Forrest. Kick off is 9:00 am St. Louis time.

Watford 1-2 Hull City 10-3-8 33 pts.

Not too much excitement here: a typical mid-season Champion clash. Troy Deeney managed to salvage Watford's pride, but little else, in added time. Still, seven game unbeaten streak is nothing to scoff at and hopefully the Hornets will regroup for next Saturday's match at Burnley.

Kickoff is at 9:00 am St. Louis time.
