Moves & News

The Golden Boys have been a month in training, spending a week plus of it in Spain playing friendlies (undefeated by-the-way), the schedule is set, and the League Cup draws have been made so lets look at where we stand going into the 2009-2010 season.

Roster Moves

Gone for good is Al Bangura, on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last season. The Sierra Leonian midfielder was the subject of a 2007 asylum case.

Theo Robinson, on loan for most of his Watford career, was transferred to Huddersfield Town in early July.

Joining the squad:

Scott Severin, a 30-year old midfielder/defender from Aberdeen on free transfer. Severin has 14 caps with the Scotland National squad.

Danny Graham, a striker from Carlisle United and former U20 English National player. Started strong last season, but his form dropped off in the last half.

Jure Travner, a 23-year old Solvenian left back, signed to a two-year contract. Formerly with Celje.

Finally, Malky Mackay was named permanent manager June 15.

Fixtures

The season opens August 8 at Vicarge Road as the Hornets host Doncaster Rovers. The Vikings' skipper Sean O'Driscoll starts his fourth season at the helm.

Three days later, the 09-10 League Cup kicks off for Watford with a visit to League 2 side Barnet.

Looking forward to a great season.
