QPR (0-1) 12-12-20 48 pts.

Needing just three points to stay in the Championship for another year, Watford failed to produce even one, falling victim to a penalty shot at Loftus Road.

An injured Jay DeMerit & Don Cowie saw Martin Taylor in defense and Stephen McGinn in midfield.

A fairly even match for the first 38 minutes broke open with a Adrian Mariappa foul on Dusko Tusic. Taking the penalty shot, Akos Buzasky put QPR ahead.

Malky Mackay, recognizing the need for a point, made two offensive substitutions at the half, Dale Bennett for Lloyd Doyley and young Martin Sordell for McGinn. The fresh legs saw more aggressive play from the Hornets, moving the action about 10 yards down the pitch.

Eventually the push ran out of steam and the Rangers held off the visiting squad.

The loss leaves the Hornets a scant two points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday with two games left - this Saturday at Vicarage Road against Reading and May Day at Coventry City. Saturday's kickoff is 9:00 am St. Louis time.
