The St. Louis Athletica will be ceasing operations according to a statement from the club today. The move puts the entire league in jeopardy as they need eight teams to remain FIFA sanctioned.
AC St. Louis has not yet announced their demise, but the death watch is on.
I got to see the Athletica play last year at Hermann Field - my first professional soccer match. The level of play exceeded anything AC St. Louis has put on the field yet. They will be missed.
