Ok. Not that Ellington or that Greece.
Rather Nathan Ellington, long-time fifth wheel striker for the Hornets, is on his way to Skoda Xanthi FC - on loan for 2010 with an option to be picked up at the end.
Signed to a 4-year deal at the start of the 2007 - 2008 season for a club-record transfer fee of £3.25 million, the 28-year old striker never lived up to the expectations, scoring only 5 goals in 51 appearances for the Hornets. Loaned out to Derby County, he fared no better, netting only three goals in 27 league appearances for Paul Jewell & Nigel Clough.
He fared a bit better in Cup play with a hat trick for the Rams in League Cup action and a game-winning penalty shot in the quarterfinals, but nowhere along the line did he show himself worth £3.25 million and Derby declined to pick up their option.
Let's hope a cash-strapped Watford can salvage something out of this unfortunate signing.
