Not having won at Deepdale since Jimmy Carter was president, inertia, at least, was working against the Hornets. Watford started strong but eventually the Lilywhites to possesion of the match. Scoring was held off until late in the first half when Billy Jones headed a goal in from twelve yards out (asst. John Parkin). There were few shots on goal for either squad but eventually PNE found the back of the net again, this time from 25 yards out in minute 68 as Ross Wallace picked off an assist from Paul McKenna and left-footed the ball in leaving Watford only two points clear of the relegation zone.
Bad news: I couldn't get to the computer by 1:45 - Good news: I'd been flummoxed again by unsynchronized shifts off Daylight Saving Time so I wasn't too late.
Jay DeMerit & Darren Ward were back in the line-up and Grzegorz Rosiak started his second match today at striker.
The next match is All Saint's Day, November 1, against Blackpool. Kickoff should be 10:00 am St. Louis time.
