Southampton: (3-0) 4-2-5 14 pts.

The Hornets returned from the International break to rack up three points on three goals at St. Mary's Stadium.

A wild start saw a foul and yellow card by keeper Richard Lee at the edge of the penalty box. Lee managed to parry David McGoldrick's penalty shot to keep the Saints off the scoreboard.

Tamas Priskin responded with his first of two goals (asst. Sadler) in the tenth minute. John Eustace picked up the second yellow and Adrian Mariappa's foul on Ryan Smith lead to the Saint's second penalty shot, this time by Paul Wotton, and Lee's second penalty save.

Watford managed two more yellow cards from Lee Williamson and Jon Harley before Eustace made the lead 2-0, heading a rebound off the post into the net.

Despite the score, Southampton controlled the game through most of the first half and blew numerous scoring opportunities including at least two empty net shots.

Watford, however, took advantage of what opportunities presented themselves and Priskin back-heeled his second goal in the 41st minute.

The gaffers settled both sides down at the half and the half-time score stood despite Priskin having a couple more chance to get the hat trick.

All-in-all an undeserved three points for Watford, but a welcome three points.

The next match is Tuesday against Cardiff City at Vicarage Road. I will be in Madison but they have city-wide wi-fi so hopefully I can catch the game at the airport on my way out. Kickoff is 1:45pm St. Louis (and Madison) time.
