Watford dominated the first half until a goal by Robert Snodgrass in the 38th minute, allowed by poor defending on the part of Lloyd Doyley, took the wind out of Watford's sails.
Danny Graham was knocked about and subbed for at the half - no word yet on his status. Both squads muddled about until Marvin Sordell, the 18-year old striker up from the Academy, scored his first professional goal with four minutes left to equalize.
Play went into extra time and with players cramping up, sometimes 10 on 11, sometimes 10 on 10, Snodgrass managed a second goal eight minutes in for the win.
The Hornets travel to South Wales to take on Swansea City in league action Saturday. Kickoff is 9:00 am St. Louis time.
