Blackpool 1-0 Watford 2-2-1 8 pts.

Blackpool showed what a keeper on his game can do to an otherwise dominant squad yesterday - namely, keep your side in the match just long enough for one flash of brilliance that hands your squad three points.

That's just what Matt Gilks managed for 90 minutes, saving a Troy Deeney penalty, parrying a couple of second efforts and, yes, nabbing a slice of luck as two Watford shots bounced off the wood.

Though the Hornets dominated the first half, Blackpool redeemed themselves in the second and held fast until Tom Ince, son of gaffer Paul (real life IS just like high school, the coach's kid gets the ball) struck home an impossible-to-stop goal to keep Blackpool undefeated and hand Watford their first loss of the season.

Watford has two weeks to stew over the loss as the international break is upon us. League ties resume Saturday September 14 when Vicarage Road welcomes Charleton. Kickoff is 9:00 am St. Louis time.
