A game that could have gone either way ended in controvesy as full time was blown with a potential penalty kick outstanding.
Things started off well for the Hornets at St. Andrew's Ground when Tamas Priskin found the back of the net from six yards out in the 6th minute, but the lead lasted only a minute. Former Hornet Kevin Phillips headed a cross from Nicky Hunt to equalize and ten minutes later Marcus Bent left-footed a 25-yarder into the lower right corner of the goal to put the Blues ahead for the next hour.
Cameron Jerome put what looked like the final nail in Watford's coffin in minute 84, but Ross Jenkins right-footed a shot in from six yards to close the gap to one once again.
A final attack from the Hornets' Tommy Smith resulted in a handball and what should have been a penalty kick for the draw, but referee S. Mathieson blew full time and the Hornets went home empty-handed.
The next match is Wednesday, December 10th at Vicarage Road against Norwich City. Kickoff is 1:45 St. Louis time.
