Brendan Rogers notched his first victory with the Hornets today as Watford fought off a push by Norwich City to clear three points in the standings for the first time since November 22.
Tamas Priskin found the assist from newcomer Liam Bridcutt to score from twelve yards out in the fifteenth minute to put Watford ahead at Vicarage Road. Little action until minute 52 when Lee Williamson, having missed Saturday's match at Birmingham City on suspension, was booked for unsporting behavior. The rough-and-tumble continued with Gary Doherty shown the yellow for Norwich six minutes later. The intimidation paid off though as Lee Croft managed to head in the equalizer at the one hour mark.
Tommy Smith saved the day for Watford a few minutes later, right-footing a goal in from 12 yards out to move the Hornets up the table.
The next opportunity for points is Saturday, December 13 at home against Coventry City. Kickoff is 9:00 am St. Louis time.
