Despite taking the lead off Tamas Priskin's left foot thirteen minutes into the first half, Watford's quest for the Cup came to a halt on this cold, rainy evening at Vicarage Road.
Mr. Mojo joined me at Barrister's for this rare opportunity to watch the Hornet's on TV. Adding to the flavor were three St. Louis Spurs fans.
A Tommy Smith pass set Priskin up to turn and beat his defender to slide the shot between Huerelho Gomes & the post. The Spurs retaliated by pounding the Watford end, missing a number of chances until a foul by Ross Jenkins on Jermain Jenas gave Roman Pavlyuchenko a penalty shot late in the first half that he converted to equalize.
Sloppy footing and lackluster play on both sides characterized the second half, a half marred by a groin pull for Jay DeMerit. Lloyd Doyley replaced the Captain. Both squads plugged along until Darren Bent squirted a shot between the near post and Scott Loach to nail down the victory for Tottenham.
Back to League action on Saturday as Brendan Rogers continues to seek his first win as head coach - this time at Birmingham. Kickoff is 9:00 St. Louis time . . . no TV.
