Nottingham Forest (2-3) 1-1-1 4 pts.

Mart Poom's 08-09 clean sheet came to end early in the match today at City Ground. Lee Martin, on loan from Manchester United, found the net from 20 yards out (asst. Cohen) in the 10th minute for the newly promoted Reds.

Poor play by Forest eventually let Tommy Smith equalize in minute 22 with his first of two goals in a back & forth match marred by poor defense.

The Welshman, Robert Earnshaw, put the Reds back on top (asst Moussi) in minute 35 and the score stood 2-1 at the half.

Sixteen minutes into the second half and an assist by Lloyd Doyley gave Smith his second goal, a right footer from 12 yards out. Sadly, Nathan Tyson put the Reds back on top for good eight minutes later and the Hornets dropped a match they were favored to win (15-8 odds) despite being the away squad.

Jobi McAnuff left early with an injury though it did not seem too serious.

Next match is a League Cup tie at Vicarage Road against League Two's Darlington. Kickoff is 1:45 pm St. Louis time this Tuesday, August 26.
